Winning a Title is Great, But Throwing Chairs Can Cost You

Playing games is exciting, and playing at the elite level is even more exciting. But the violence needs to be kept onscreen. At CEO 2024 over the weekend, Rex Dyloch (Alex Ruiz) ruled at Mortal Kombat 1, but as he clinched first place, he vented his emotions by throwing a chair!

No one was injured, but the toss took out a light fixture, which was worth almost $3,000. Dyloch's championship win only netted him $565, and organizer Alex Jebailey wants him to pay for the light. Yeah, it's hard to beat up avatars for hours straight and not vent a little, but the consequences can be severe. Read about the incident at Kotaku. Next year's event might want to stock up on pillows for throwing, just in case.
