Kloa - Child of the Forest is an upcoming pixel art RPG that takes some inspiration from the Zelda games and the art style and story beats of Studio Ghibli films. The game places its players into the shoes of a young adventurer on a quest to bring life to a forest now filled with corruption known as the Ikari Curse.
The game certainly borrows a lot of themes about environmentalism from Princess Mononoke, which features once lust forests that just like the game, were also ravaged by a curse. Developer Wildpad Games also explained the things they took inspiration from when they were making a game. “The gorgeous natural landscapes of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild were also a reference point,” the developers wrote in their Kickstarter. “ You've also got oodles of Zelda lineage in the environmental puzzles you discover while journeying through myriad biomes, from mountain peaks to gloomy swamps.“
The developers shared that the demo for the game is “practically finished,” and can be released soon on the PC.
