Scientist Uses Facial Reconstruction On A Skeleton In Skyrim

Valid.

A member of the Ancestral Whispers cranial reconstruction research team decided to channel his inner scientist and nerd and used facial reconstruction technology to see what the skeletal enemies in Skyrim looked like before they passed on. At first glance, one would think that the scientist, Twitter user Sulkalmakh was just sharing his findings on ancient people.

And then you look at the caption. The researcher wrote that the specimen was an "ancient Atmoran from Saarthal, dated to the late Merethic Era." That’s Skyrim alright. He was able to revive the skeleton model used in the game into a grumpy-looking caveman. What’s fun is the actual designer of the models in Skyrim, Jonah Lobe, noticed his post. "You did an awesome job with the reconstruction," he said in response to the Tweet. “Since they were going to be attacking the player I wanted them to look intimidating but not with those meanie-eyes you see on so many fantasy skeletons. The answer, for me, was to go heavy with the brows and big with the teeth, and just thicc overall."
