I’m sorry, these features scream "game of the year" to us!
Just a few weeks before the release of the sequel to the iconic (and critically acclaimed) The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild— Tears of the Kingdom, Nintendo decided to show off ten minutes of gameplay. This was after months of no information about the game (aside from the little information we can grab from trailers and its $70 price tag).
While it was only ten minutes, it certainly showed how many interactions can be made in the new world of Hyrule in the sequel. The Legend of Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma showed the new powers Link will have in the game.
This new set of power involves allowing Link to go up through the ceiling of any location (Ascend). Additionally, one of the powers allows Link to put two materials together to make a stronger and better weapon, be it a shield, a sword, or even an arrow (Fuse).
If you’ve seen those cool new vehicles in the trailers, it turns out that this can be done by putting together different materials with Link’s Ultrahand power. Essentially, it allows Link to “glue” items together with some green sticky goo.
Fuse and Ultrahand seem to provide a lot of ways to interact with the world we’ve seen in Breath of the Wild. These two will certainly allow speedrunners to do some ridiculous trick shots and glitches to just break the game. “If you could do that, then maybe you could do this too. In this game, you can do a lot of things just by thinking about what’s even possible,” Eiji Aonuma stated.
With all of that being said, we’re afraid you’ll never hear again from us after this game releases– we’ll probably spend more than 100 hours in this sequel!
