The classic video game Tetris has an unusual origin. It's one of the very few works of pop culture from the Soviet Union to thrive around the world. A Russian programmer developed it in 1985 and it became a huge success, soon distracting millions of people around the world from their work.
The game continues to drop 4-block sections until the player loses. No one has ever beaten the game . . . until now. The Associated Press reports that 13-year old Willis Gibson recently played Tetris successfully until Level 157, at which Tetris crashes. This, among Tetris players, is considered a hypothetical victory.
