Developers of the RPG Dark and Darker have now asked their fans to torrent their game after being pulled from Steam. We need to backtrack a little to get a bit more context. So, the story is that Ironmace, the developer of this game, was accused by another company, Nexon, of stealing assets and staff from them to work on their video game.
This escalated to the point that police actually raided Ironmace’s office. Nexon’s lawyers stated that Dark and Darker heavily resembled a working project underneath the publisher with the working title P3. From major gameplay to rules to the art– it was so bad that Nexon had to get the law enforcement, allegedly.
Ironmace, after all of that, decided to have GoFundMe, which was a bit short-lived. With no storefront to work with after being pulled off from Steam, they decided to message their players on the game’s Discord server.
“Rest assured that we are working around the clock to safeguard the continuance of Dark and Darker,” the post read. “Unfortunately, due to the complexities of our situation, especially across international lines, it is taking time to resolve the Steam situation. In order for us to keep our promise to our fans we’ve had to go old school this time.”
It’s certainly a way to reach the players!
