Against the Storm is Like WarCraft Without the War

If you are the type of gamer who has always like the aesthetics and the feel of WarCraft, but you prefer world building games to battles, you should play the new game Against the Storm. Kevin Purdy of Ars Technica is the type who couldn't confidently go to war until he had all his ducks in a row, meaning organizing his base, supplies, and forces. Realizing that was the most satisfying part of the game, he concentrated on the parts he liked without sinking too much into the actual score.

In Against the Storm, those parts are the point of the game. You are building villages for the queen, and they are all your responsibility. Oh, there's conflict, as you have limited resources and there are forces trying to thwart you, plus the "Impatience meter," and the threat of rain, which will wash away what you've built. And unexpected things happen at random. Read about Against the Storm and see if it intrigues you at Ars Technica.
